Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental psychiatric disease emerging in early childhood, with core symptoms including social communication defects, parochial interests, and repetitive behaviors. Psychiatric and neurological comorbidities are common in ASD, such as anxiety, attention deficit disorder, epilepsy, and sleep disorder. Yet, due to the complexity in etiology and pathology, effective and targeted treatments for ASD remain to be developed.
This special issue aims to give a multidisciplinary view of the generation and development of ASD and explore new assessments and interventions for ASD. The following topics will be covered by this special issue:
- Epidemiology of ASD in China and the etiological factors, including genetic, psychological, and environmental factors and the biomarkers;
- Psychological and imagological features of ASD and the relationship with ASD progression;
- Molecular, cellular, and circuitry mechanisms of the core symptoms of ASD;
- New models and/or new behavioral paradigms of ASD;
- Development of new interventions or treatments.
We warmly welcome submissions on the above topics from all over the word. Original studies will be complemented by a series of Reviews, Research Articles, Correspondence, etc.
